Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Fardal will celebrate 70 years of marriage on July 12, 2011. They were married in La Porte City on July 12, 1941. Helen (Frank) was born in La Porte City and Jerry originated from Webster City, Iowa. Jerry graduated from the University of Iowa and Helen from Northern Iowa. Jerry was in WWII from 1942 to 1945. Upon his return they lived in La Porte City and he worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Waterloo. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1951 where he continued his career until retiring in 1974. They moved to the Kansas City area in 2005 to be closer to their two daughters. Helen was a teacher and active in their church, PEO and a volunteer for many years at Omaha Methodist Hospital. Jerry golfed, was a member of SCORE and Kiwanis. They have two daughters, Diane (Dick) Frohardt and Ruth (Pat) Muldoon, three grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
